A Disappointing Showdown in Local Cinemas

Thousands of Filipino movie buffs are ecstatic about Viva Entertainment's latest soon-to-be blockbuster movie This Time featuring the country's well-loved and phenomenal on-screen and off-screen tandem of James Reid and Nadine Lustre (collectively known as JaDine) which will be shown in hundreds of movie theaters all over the country on May 4. But while they are starting to prepare for more heart-fluttering moments, many of them will be disappointed by one last-minute setback.

A few hours or days ago right before its supposed showing last Wednesday, Star Cinema unexpectedly announced that its romantic comedy movie Just the 3 of Us starring John Lloyd Cruz and Jennylyn Mercado has been moved to May 4, which is said to have avoided competing with the local showing of Captain America: Civil War considering that many will prefer watching the ladder. This surprise announcement has disappointed a lot of movie goers, but this will be the first time in a long time that two Filipino movies will compete against each other in the box office.

I'm sure that this will affect the box-office sales of both Viva and Star Cinema, and there will be mixed reactions on both traditional and social media platforms regarding this matter. But, this will not be a hindrance to the growing success of Philippine cinema that started a few years ago and it is assured that many will be watching both of these films intact. For now, here are the official trailers of these two light but heart-fluttering romcom flicks from two of the country's largest and most popular film production studios in the Philippines today.
