Philippines vs. The World in Beach Volleyball
Since last year, Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR) has proven its resiliency in bringing quality competition in different sand beaches all over the Philippines and promote the sport of beach volleyball in the country. Following the success of its BVR On Tour tournament that was culminated by a thrilling national championship last month, a new chapter is about the begin as BVR launches a highly-competitive tourney featuring some of the finest faces in the global beach volleyball scene named the BVR Invitational.
Sanctioned by the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas (LVPI), Inc., the BVR Invitational will feature ten teams from the international field and two from the Philippines so it will be an epic battle in the sands of Anguib Beach in Sta. Ana, Cagayan between our local shores and the rest of the world. Representing the Philippines in the invitational tournament will be the teams of BVR co-founder Charo Soriano and BVR On Tour national co-champion Bea Tan and of BVR On Tour runners-up Jennifer Cosas and Dji Rodriguez.
The invitational will start with four pools of three times playing in a round robin format that would accommodate the initial ranking of the 12 participating teams. After pool play, all the teams will advance to a double elimination bracket where the losing team will be moved to the loser's bracket for possible redemption. The best thing about the tournament is that some of the matches will be aired on ABS-CBN Sports + Action on free TV and on ABS-CBN Sports + Action HD for Skycable, Destiny Cable and Sky Direct subscribers on June 18 and 19, beginning at 11 am, since the organization's partnership with the premier media and entertainment company in the Philippines has proven to be essential that benefit many Filipino sports enthusiasts, especially the youth.
