Thousands of game journalists and enthusiasts from all over the world will gather at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 14 to 16, 2016 for one of the world's largest and most influential video game conventions today, the Electronic Entertainment Expo or commonly known to gamers as E3. Throughout the course of the 22nd event that began in 1995, there are many things that gaming and pop culture fanatics would expect from the gaming world. And I think I should give you a lowdown on what would be showcasing inside the popular gaming expo.
Judging from what I have read on a local news site, one of the most intriguing things that is expected to show up at E3 is virtual reality, where hardware manufacturers are keen in showing visitors their own sleuth of gadgets that would cater them to enter and explore the imaginative world of gaming through the said technology while game developers are slated to share their own insights about the role of virtual reality in today's developments in the gaming world complemented with their own games that are compatible to virtual reality-generating devices. I would agree on one thing that 2016 is expected to become a year for VR, but it will all depend if gamers can live up to what they are expecting from those involved since this is new to them.
Another development expected to come on E3 is whether the big three of the gaming world can present to fanatics and journalists their new next-generation gaming systems that would further shape up and change the way what we think about video games. Well, while we are waiting for Microsoft's possible successor to the Xbox One in the coming years, I am sad to say that Sony's PlayStation 4.5 which is now officially a reality will not be launched in this year's expo although it is announced that it will be a more powerful compliment to the PS4, which is recently the best-selling gaming console in North America today. Meanwhile, you won't expect Nintendo to launch the NX at the expo despite the fact that it will be released worldwide early next year. Instead, you can go see its own booth that is only dedicated to the upcoming Zelda game which is found out to be released for the said handheld device as well.
And then there is a plethora of games from third-party developers like Capcom, Square Enix, Ubisoft and Activision Blizzard among others waiting for visitors to try and a handful of competitive gaming tournaments for enthusiasts who want to watch their favorite e-Sports player or team dominate regardless of what game he or she is entering in these said tournaments. After looking at what is expected and some recently unexpected developments, I can say that E3 may not be as big and surreal as other events like the CES or Computex Asia, but gamers who want to look at the latest and upcoming video games should go to Los Angeles. Otherwise, they don't know what they are missing. And that is my own take on the things that gamers like you should expect at E3. If you want something to say before E3 begins, then you should express it now.
