This is one of the many variations of Microsoft's Xbox 360. IT'S NOT DEAD YET!! |
First released in November 2005, the successor to the original Xbox has become a testament to Microsoft's success in the gaming world since it entered the video game hardware business in 2001. It was the sixth highest-selling video game console of all time, selling over 84 million units worldwide, and eventually the highest-selling one made by an American company.
However, even though Xbox 360 is slated to become the latest addition to a league of retired gaming systems that became popular during their existence, Microsoft will continue to support hardware for the console and even Xbox Live online support. Furthermore, games for the Xbox 360 will also be available until supplies last. For those who have bought an Xbox One, they can buy and play their favorite Xbox 360 games on their console through backward compatibility.
So, with this coming from the company that is known for its Windows operating system, it seems that Xbox 360 will not be moved to a haven for retired gaming systems called Retroville just yet. Only time knows when will the console be out of pasture, so watch out for it.
