HOOQing Up to a String of Firsts

HOOQ

HOOQ, the premiere online entertainment service in Asia with more than 180,000 subscribers in the Philippines, recently announced its new string of firsts that would cater to the viewing choices of its consumers. And it seems that the most interesting among the said string is the service's first original series loosely based on a critically-acclaimed Filipino action movie.

The initiative of Singapore-based telecommunications company Singtel, Warner Bros. Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television has partnered with the service's Philippine partner and Filipino digital lifestyle purveyor Globe Telecom and local independent production firm Reality Entertainment to produce an original series of six to eight episodes based on the 2013 award-winning movie On The Job (OTJ). The mini-series is slated to become different from the original movie where it will revolve a hard-hitting topic that has been affecting Philippine society for years - peace and order - and focus on the side of the police unlike the movie.

The first Filipino-made original series is sure to become the latest addition to HOOQ's largest and widest selection of Philippine movies and television shows from the country's top film and TV production studios such as ABS-CBN, Viva Entertainment, Regal Entertainment and GMA Network. Included in the said selection is the original OTJ movie along with other Filipino independent films that has been making waves locally and internationally through the years. Aside from the Philippines, OTJ will also be released in Thailand, India and Indonesia in the coming months.

Also announced are the digital release of exclusive interviews, extra footage, and deleted scenes of the first two Ghostbusters movies which became popular in the box office during the 80s - a first for any video on-demand service in the world - and the addition of bite-size weekly "sachets" that will give subscribers seven-day access to a wide selection of Hollywood, foreign and Filipino content which will be available in the Philippines for only Php59.00 per week.
