TrubeBytes: Until Further Notice

Pokemon Go

The gaming world is talking about the highly popular augmented reality mobile game Pokemon Go which was initially launched in the United States and Australia, but those who are desperate to have the game installed on their smartphones especially from the Philippines should weep and wait. Why? It will be answered in this edition of TrubeBytes.

No Pokemon GO in PH Until Further Notice

Despite the launch of Pokemon Go in the countries that I have mentioned above, many Filipino gamers have taken advantage of downloading and installing the said game on their mobile devices from third-party applications. This situation has prompted developer Niantic to block access to the game for those who have already downloaded from these unauthorized sites. But don't threat because the game that makes use of a mobile device's GPS and internet connections to roam, hunt and catch virtual pocket monsters will be available in the Philippines soon. You will only have to wait for the announcement of a possible international release due to large congestion and serious server issues. But, for now, here is a review of Pokemon GO from one of its loyal fans.

Facebook Now Serves The Poor with Open Cellular

Popular social networking site Facebook has recently introduced its newest project OpenCellular as part of its continuing commitment to expand the reach of Internet connectivity to even as far as the world's most remote places. This project serves as a mini cell-site that is roughly the size of a shoe box that can provide 2G, 3G and 4G LTE connectivity in a small community and can withstand severe weather conditions. It can be attached to a lamp pole or a tree by even a single person, but a power supply and network internet connectivity is needed to make the device work and provide connection to its users. The project can also send and receive text messages and voice calls. The project is open to telecommunications companies for network expansion and manufacturers who want to build the project for themselves.

Globe Telecom's Own Personal Data Manager

Globe Telecom recently launched its own personal data manager named Globe Switch. The app which is initially available for all mobile and on-the-go broadband subscribers owning an Android smartphone or 3G-enabled tablet PC can track a subscriber's data usage daily, weekly and monthly plus full control of apps that use and consume data. It also provides free mobile app offers, discounts on favorite games and mobile apps that are being updated daily, and the option to bundle apps for one standard price giving flexibility on how to consume mobile data. However, these offers and discounts are only exclusive to Globe and TM subscribers.
