Tribe to Add New Flavor to Local Online Streaming

More Filipino consumers are now spending much of their mobile data allowance to enjoy watching their own favorite movies and television shows on their mobile devices since the advent of online entertainment services like HOOQ and iflix enter the scene last year. Now, it seems that another major player is set to add new flavor to an alternative way Filipinos are watching beyond television, and its name is Tribe.

The Philippine Star reported a few weeks ago that local telecommunications brand Globe Telecom has inked a new partnership with Malaysian-based company Astro that would bring the over-the-top online streaming service named Tribe to our local shores. With this new deal, Filipino consumers will enjoy more of what they want to watch with not only on-demand streaming of Asian movies and television shows, but also live sporting events as well through the new service.

Currently available in Malaysia and Indonesia, Tribe continues to explore opportunities through extending its reach beyond Southeast Asian countries, and the Philippines is just the beginning. It is also open for content creators and producers in our local shores and other countries who want to explore more possibilities and create more entertaining and intriguing content that would cater to what consumers want to watch.

Tribe will certainly be a new flavor to be reckoned with as Filipinos will have more choices to watch on their mobile devices once it enters our country. It will soon be available through Globe's mobile or home broadband plan bundles, and it is slated to be compatible with Google Chromecast. Will Tribe be as successful as the ones before as soon as it makes its presence felt in the Philippines? Only time will tell if it will be as good as its predecessors.
