The Trubist's Take on E3 2016

I have many things to expect at the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo a few days ago, but what happened in the prestigious gaming convention is beyond my expectations making E3 2016 a big blast not just for me and millions of gamers around the world but also for the industry that continues to shine brightly even in unexpected situations. The only problem for me for my own take on the convention is that I had to rely on free data to know what is happening in the three-day event, but what I want to share with you will simply worth what you want for your own gaming experience in the near future.

Well, the first day of E3 2016 kicked off with a bit of diversity by paying tribute to the victims of the largest mass shooting incident in America today considering that the event started two days after what happened at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida. As a sign of support, flags raised at the Los Angeles Convention Center were at half-mast while video game developers show their own way of paying their respects to the victims like a moment of silence courtesy of Microsoft and Nintendo.

Now on to the event itinerary, Microsoft has unveiled two hardware revisions of the Xbox One console, namely the Xbox One S and Project Scorpio. The former is a smaller model of the original Xbox One with 4K video support and is slated to become available in gaming stores by August 2016, while the ladder is a more powerful one that can facilitate 4K gameplay and virtual reality support. Meanwhile, although its recently-confirmed PlayStation 4.5 decided not to show up at E3, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that the PlayStation VR headset will be out in stores on October 13, 2016 with 50 launch games and an official price of US$399 once released in the US.

Of course, E3 2016 is nothing without the games being shown there and I have compiled some notes about it, and would you believe that Hideo Kojima made his appearance at the said event just about a year after he and Kojima Productions have left Konami. Now with Sony Interactive Entertainment as its new partner, Kojima was proud to announce its first post-Konami and PS4-exclusive action game Death Stranding which will feature the voice and likeness of American actor Norman Reedus as a basis for the main protagonist. And then Crash Bandicoot would return to the gaming world after years of absence, but he will return as one of the characters in the new Skylanders game. But for those who want to relive the golden days of the happy-go-lucky character, then watch our for Crash Bandicoot Trilogy Remastered.

There are too many games shown at E3 that I can't have the capacity to further explain them all one by one in detail, but the one thing that is considered the best among everything even virtual reality games is Nintendo's Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which will be released not only for the Wii U but also as a possible launch game for the company's new handheld gaming system called the NX by March 2017. Aside from having a larger open world compared to previous Zelda installments, it will be the first game in franchise history to feature voice acting. Sadly, you won't hear Link's voice on that game. But many gamers are expecting this to happen, and they can't wait for next year's release of the game. For those who want to know more about the game, watch the official trailer of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for E3.

And there you have it. These are just some of the notes that I have jotted about what happened at E3 2016. As I have said, there are too many details that would let my capacity to talk about it run out but I can assure you that these would content you. If not, then check your favorite gaming site like Gamespot or IGN on the full coverage of the said event. As Good Game's Goose said, everything I have said about the event is just my opinion. Until next year's E3, trubists!!
