All PBA, All the Time
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is now taking its television coverage to a whole new level as it recently affirmed its partnership with Cignal Digital TV, the fastest-growing pay TV service in the Philippines with more than one million subscribers, for the launch of PBA Rush, a 24-hour channel dedicated to showcasing the best from the first professional basketball league in Asia.
Prior to its official launch last July 17, 2016, the channel already made its test broadcast with replays of the previous tournaments of the league's 2015-2016 season and the Manila leg of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament. The new channel which is available for all Cignal prepaid and postpaid subscribers on SD channel 52 and HD channel 129 will feature live simulcast of regular PBA games, plus special league-centric programming and soon classic games in the coming months.
Yes, aside from the live PBA games that are also aired on TV5, PBA Rush will air behind-the-scene footages, scouting reports, league-related documentaries, and games from the league's spinoffs including the PBA D-League. With these in mind, PBA promises a channel that is dedicated to everything about Philippine basketball. And when it comes to Philippine basketball, there is only one brand that showcases what it is all about - the PBA.
The launch of PBA Rush is considered to be an extension of the league's longtime partnership with TV5 considering that it has been the network's most-watched program for male viewers. Let's just hope that this channel will be the catalyst for the impending success of the network's struggling and trying-hard sports division, especially with the Rio Olympics on the horizon.
