The Fate of the All-Female Ghostbusters Reboot

Next week, millions of movie buffs around the world will witness the anticipated return of the popular 80s supernatural action comedy film franchise in the big screens, but there will be a big difference on its return because it will be an all-female ghost busting quartet that will take the stage compared to its previous predecessors. What does it take for the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot to become big and successful in thousands of movie theaters in different countries? Well, the fate is in the hands of those who are willing to pay their hard-earned cash just to watch a movie.

However, before the anticipated release of the new breed of ghostbusting heroes, the movie has already sparked a controversy of its own when Columbia Pictures released its first official trailer last March 9, 2016. Two months after the trailer's release, it has already become the most disliked video in the history of popular video streaming site Youtube mainly because it has been criticized by many for its diversity. If you watch this first trailer, maybe you can pinpoint what is wrong with the trailer. Despite all of that, Ghostbusters is still one big movie that any fan of its predecessors can watch.

The 2016 Ghostbusters reboot will be shown in thousands of movie theaters next week, including hundreds in the Philippines. Aside from Ghostbusters, also showing in local cinemas is an intense movie directed by Paul Soriano and starring Enrique Gil based on a true story of kidnapping. I think this movie will teach you a thing or two about the society's efforts in lessening one of the most intriguing criminal activities happened in our local shores today. Here is the official trailer of Dukot.
