When The Force Meets The Law

GMA Network has brought back the mythical world of Encantadia that has been loved by millions of Filipino viewing households since its first inception in 2005, and the pilot episode of the 2016 reboot did not disappoint fans of the hit series and new viewers as it became a top trending topic on social media nationwide and worldwide. The only big problem is that majority of the Filipino viewing population prefer watching FPJ's "Ang Probinsyano" on their television sets rather than just a reboot of what was once popular about a decade ago. And you know what, this is a big deal considering that more Filipinos are starting to change what they want to watch for the benefit of their own pleasure.

Despite its big budget and production value, the 2016 requel has many problems that dismayed not only viewers, but also television critics as well. Many consider the visual effects and animation of the series to be a bit crappy, while some criticize the show for its quick pace of Tagalog subtitles which they find it irritating. However, what's even worse is that the series is still airing in standard definition which is another intriguing testament that GMA is still not ready for producing its own television shows in high-definition format. No wonder why more Filipinos start to complain about the reboot compared to the television adaptation of the 1997 Filipino action movie.

If the 2016 requel remains true to its original story, then ABS-CBN and Dreamscape's adaptation of one of FPJ's finest movies becomes more than just a television adaptation. In fact, FPJ's "Ang Probinsyano" has redefined and brought back the action genre that has been in dormancy after the late 90s. Emotional and jaw-dropping action-packed scenes in the show have been well-complemented by comic antics from some of the show's overnight sensations, life lessons from every story arc shown and the fact that each story arc resembles not only the state of peace and order in the Philippines but also many of the nation's biggest and most-talked about issues as of today.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that the law would always win against the force when they meet. More than that, sharing life lessons to others is better than to tell children fairy tales that are not the norm to every Filipino kid's bedtime habits today.
